Michael has been in the building industry for over 15 years while specializing in Kitchen and Bath Design. With a great passion in supporting the environment and a love for helping his clients create their one-of-a-kind custom kitchen, thus was the creation of Home Design Studio.

With a focus on healthy and responsible products that are environmentally friendly and composing a design team that is committed to advanced research in renewable and sustainable products and world class customer service, his dream became a reality.

Michael specializes in new construction, remodeling, and commercial applications and will see your project through from beginning to end. He believes that the project isn’t finished until the client is utilizing their new space to its highest potential.

He is a native of Alamance County, and resides in Haw River with his wife Kelli and three children. In his off time, Michael is very committed to his church, family and friends and enjoys spending time in his gardens, cooking, baking, fishing and anything having to do with being outdoors.

Trey Green

Vice President

Trey is a North Carolina native with over 22 years of experience in the cabinet, counter top and remodeling business. He owned and operated a custom cabinet shop for over 12 years and ran a $17 million dollar cabinet operation in the triangle for the last five years prior to the partnering with HDS. Trey has been involved in many large scale design projects, as well as overseeing one of the largest celebrity inspired multi -subdivisions in the triangle for kitchen and bath design. He studied logistics and technical design at the University of Georgia Tech, prior to owning his own business. With all these years of experience, Trey adds a gifted touch to a wide variety of skill sets. Trey has made it his goal to help create a superior design center for the Triangle area, by offering world class customer service and a superior product for all your cabinet, counter top and flooring needs. Trey invites you to visit our showroom for an experience that you will value.

Trey enjoys spending time with his wife and fire ball of a little boy, helping with school events, traveling to the beach, fishing, boating, skiing, saltwater fish tanks and sports in his off time.

Kevin Nelson

Regional Sales Manager

Kevin is a North Carolina Native with an extensive background in energy management, home remodeling, installed construction materials and business development for cabinets, counter tops and flooring. One of his key interests is to educate people on the importance of building high performance homes (GREEN certified). Kevin is serving on the GREEN Home Builders of the Triangle Executive Board where he is the chairman of the marketing committee and was the 2011 Chairman of the Triangle GREEN Home Tour. Kevin stresses the importance of building tight and energy efficient homes as they will provide a more comfortable environment for your family and can provide substantially lower energy bills; however, with tighter homes comes the need to ensure interior products are non-toxic and meet green certification standards. Kevin enjoys reading, running and working on his garden. Kevin resides in Durham with his wife Sandra and together they have 5 children.

Fred Young

Flooring Manager

Fred Young is a native to North Carolina with over 38 years of professional experience in the residential and commercial flooring business. Fred started out as a craftsman in the field and attended Appalachian State University before working his way into owning a very successful flooring business in Durham. He joins us here at HDS to help lead our company in offering a full interior design package. It’s no wonder Fred continues to get repeat business and referrals, when he has true passion and love for his trade.

As a family man with over 24 years of marriage and 4 kids (the youngest in college now), Fred continues to show support for kids with speech and hearing impediments at the Certoma Club. He also enjoys coaching youth baseball and basketball, fishing, playing golf and working in the yard.

Jennifer Speiran

Sales & Design

Jennifer Speiran has over 8 years of building trade experience in kitchen design and space planning. Raised in Virginia, Jennifer is an alumnus of Longwood University and holds a degree in Interior Architecture with a minor in Music. She’s a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association and looks forward to achieving her Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer Certification in 2011.

As a project designer for Home Design Studio, Jennifer brings excellent customer service, dedication and enthusiasm to commercial and residential remodeling and new construction homeowners and builders throughout the Triangle. She will oversee every cabinet, countertop and flooring detail in order to achieve your personal style, timeframe and budget.

Off site, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and two rambunctious poochies, singing along with her favorite tunes, attending musicals, baking, scrapbooking and catching some rays.

Ken Jones

Field Support Supervisor

Ken Jones is a native of North Carolina with over 40 years of professional experience as a NC contractor in residential and commercial construction. Ken is a man of all trades, but one thing is for sure-he has extensive knowledge in construction and high expectations in the field. He is involved throughout the entire installation process to ensure accuracy and that the client’s needs are met. He attended NC State University of Architecture and served in the National Guard. Along with strong ethical values, a friendly smile and a wealth of knowledge, Ken is our missing link.

Ken has a beautiful marriage of over 40 years that has been blessed with 2 daddy’s girls and 3 wonderful grandkids. Ken enjoys golfing, fishing, NC State football games and duck hunting every chance he gets.
